Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
You’ve been coping for a long time. That’s not the same as healing.
Who This Is For
This work is specifically designed for clients who are functional, insightful, and exhausted from carrying the past in their bodies.
You understand logically that the traumatic event is over, but your nervous system is still reacting like it’s happening right now. You might feel "stuck" in a loop, struggle with PTSD, phobias, or anxiety, or have tried traditional talk therapy but still feel the physical weight of the experience.
If you are tired of simply "managing" your symptoms and want a faster, more focused alternative to weekly therapy, ART is designed for you.
How It Works
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a fast-acting, evidence-based therapy that helps your brain process painful experiences without requiring you to relive them in detail.
The Computer Metaphor Think of it like editing a file on a computer. We open the file (the memory), remove the glitch (the emotional pain), and save it back to the hard drive. You don't lose the memory; you lose the gut-punch reaction attached to it.
The Process Using rapid eye movements—similar to what happens during REM sleep—we help your brain process "stuck" images and sensations.
Identify & Visualize: We identify the specific memory or body sensation causing distress.
The Eye Movements: You follow my hand with your eyes. This calms the brain's alarm center (the amygdala) and allows processing to happen.
The Shift: We guide your brain to replace negative, distressing images with positive or neutral ones. This isn’t about "pretending it didn't happen"—it is about changing how the memory feels in your body.
Why Clients Choose Art
You Stay in Control: You are awake and in the driver's seat the entire time. It is not hypnosis.
No Reliving the Trauma: You do not need to narrate the specific details of your trauma to me to heal from it.
It Moves Fast: While traditional therapy can take years, ART is designed to provide relief in 1 to 5 sessions.
How Art Is Different From EMDR
Both ART and EMDR are evidence-based therapies that use eye movements to heal the brain, but the experience is different.
With EMDR, clients are often asked to "free associate," noticing whatever thoughts and emotions arise.
With ART, the process is more guided and directive. You are not required to stay emotionally immersed in the pain. Instead, the brain is supported in updating how the memory is stored—often with less emotional exhaustion and greater containment.
What To Expect
ART sessions look a little different than a standard talk therapy hour.
Length: Sessions are typically longer (90–120 minutes) to ensure we have time to fully process the target memory.
The Vibe: Despite dealing with heavy topics, clients often describe the process as calming.
What Healing Looks Like
Healing with ART means the emotional charge is detached from the memory.
You can still recall the event, but the physical panic, grief, or shame is gone. You generally leave the session feeling a significant weight has been lifted, equipped with immediate tools for self-regulation. The goal is not just to cope with the memory, but to resolve it so you can move forward.
Additional FAQ’s
-
No. ART does not require you to describe what happened or relive the experience. You remain in control of what you share. The work focuses on how the memory is stored in the brain and body—not on retelling the story.
-
ART is designed to be contained and regulating. We move at your pace, and the process is structured to prevent emotional flooding. Most clients report feeling steadier during and after sessions, not undone.
-
Every nervous system is different. Some people notice meaningful shifts in a few sessions; others need more time depending on the complexity of their history. ART is not rushed, but it is efficient.
